Project Description: Christchurch School of Gymnastics 2019 Classic Competition

Project Overview:

In 2019, Daniel Price Art & Design was again commissioned to design the main advertising poster for the Christchurch School of Gymnastics Classic Competition along with the certificates that would be presented to prize-winning gymnasts. This project encompassed more in designing the visual identity and essentially the brand identity of the event.

Design Challenge:

The primary challenge was to develop a dynamic and intriguing design that was consistent over multiple assets being presented before and at the event. While again being visually fun & evocative of the dynamism of the sport. This time, the requirement of having unique assets for male and female gymnasts was also a factor.

Creative Solution:

Daniel Price Art & Design delivered a poster design solution using imagery of two prominent gymnasts who had been competing for NZ at international events in the past year - one male, and one female. Assets derived from this were also used in creating two separate versions of certificates for two different sets of certificates, which also carried similar visual illustrative elements over from the main poster in order to further the event's consistent visual identity.

Project Results:

The project effectively delivered a eye-catching and unique result for the advertising that year. The event continued to have a large draw of spectators over the weekend with this artwork being the face of it. Certificates carrying the visual identity of the competition also went home with gymnasts to be mementos of the event and their achievements there.
