Project Description: Wedding Invites & Booklets

Client: Emma & Lance McBride

Project Overview:

Daniel Price Art & Design was approached by the couple to create first, the invites for their wedding, as well as the complimentary service booklets for the ceremony.

Design Challenge:

Graphics and material needed to be designed that was evocative of the personalities & interests of the couple. The wedding was being held at Nelson Cathedral, so they also preferred a design that would also tie in to their chosen venue. The selected colours of crimson and teal also needed to be expressed in the subsequent design.

Creative Solution:

Working with the couple, and with their interest as thespians, and drawing on the visuals of cathedrals as a general direction. A visual direction and idea of medieval illuminated manuscripts was settled on to carry their graphics. Main colours were distributed throughout the formulated design, being also supplemented with gold, and tactically used to represent each of the individuals. appropriate typography was utilized to give information and visual essence to the work. Invites were printed on white-gold stock, and wedding booklets were formatted for attendees and for people involved in the ceremony. Separate versions of the  service books were developed, one for participants with the full service liturgy, hymns and calls / responses recorded; and another for attendees with only the run order and hymns recorded

Project Results:

This wedding set was approved with enthusiasm by the couple, and received well by guests - one expressing that after the wedding that they had framed their invite. The separate versions proved valuable for participants to keep track of the service and responses.
