Client: Scuffd.co.nz

Project Overview:

A startup T-Shirt / apparel brand was starting up and approached Daniel Price Art & Design to design their brand logo. This was intended to be used on their website selling their merch and other associated material, largely for social media. The brand intended to have more of an online presence.

Design Challenge:

The client requested the brand logo to be made out of their URL scuffd.co.nz. The brand emphasized creativity in their merchandising over the notion of brand-name / designer brands that permeate malls and common fashion. The company seeks to design humorous or off-the-cuff graphic tees, and wanted this to be alluded to in their logo.

Creative Solution:

Applying their namesake: a bold, slightly grungy wordmark logo was developed with the client. a bold contrast with yellow and black was used to make this color combination visually striking and attention-grabbing. The combination also offers a strong contrast and a powerful combination of energetic positivity, while black can convey a sense of authority, sophistication, and even a touch of mystery, which is also appropriate for their faceless brand approach. Intentional distressing over the graphic sets it apart from other polished brand presentation and applies their namesake 'Scuffd' look.

Project Results:

The client was pleased with the result, and has had a Christmas variety made for social media in 2024. They are keen for more collaboration opportunities as a result.
