Project Description: Quail Island Trust Strategic Plan 2018-2021

Client: Ōtamahua / Quail Island Ecological Restoration Trust

Project Overview:

For 2018, 2019, 2020, & 2021. The Quail Island Trust requested that Daniel Price Art & Design formatted the graphics and layout for how they presented their strategic plans for those years. These were to be used in a wide variety of documentations associated with their charitable work and in presenting to potential sponsors or grant providers. The document was to be a crucial element in how they conducted their work and in providing their direction and development.

Design Challenge:

The document needed to be reliably legible, and clearly outline their full strategic plan for each year. While also being presented in a manner that incorporated images of their work, and of the island - in order to garner interest in their cause and restoration work. As a community-facing document. The graphics needed to be easily digested & read, as well as being up front about what their work does and how it benefits their community. The content had to also accurately relay the information provided by the trustees on the Strategic plan.

Creative Solution:

Loosely adapting a sample that the trust members & their appointed liaison had identified as a preferred initial graphic direction. A loose template was developed that could then be inserted into with whatever content was needed. The content was separated out into main sections and arranged how the client needed it to be read. Layout was used to section out different aspects of the plan, as well as guide viewers around the page in a specific order. Appropriate images were selected from a collection that was provided by the client that garnered interest and variety in their work, and would visually represent the section's content so that the key aspects could be inferred before content was read.

Project Results:

The same template has been used for 4 consecutive years of Strategic plans, which has been put forward as one of the Trust's most important public-facing documentations. This shows the Trust having a positive resonance with the graphics for how their plans are presented, and a desire to keep with the same presentation methods. While content and images have varied slightly over the years, the template and manner in which the Strategic Plans have been presented visually ties together each year, showing that while some specifics each year have varied - the overall intention and goals of the Trust remain consistent and developing towards a common end goal.
