Project Description: Christchurch School of Gymnastics National Champions Posters 2019-2022

Client: Christchurch School of Gymnastics

Project Overview:

From 2019-2022 Daniel Price Art & Design was consistently approached to create artwork for posters depicting gymnasts from the club, competing for Canterbury, that won National Champion titles at the NZ National Gymnastics Championships in the respective years. An exception to this only being for the year of 2020, as the COVID-19 pandemic ensured that the competitive season, and subsequently the 2020 National Championships event were cancelled.

Design Challenge:

The primary challenge was to develop graphics that were different and unique for each year - and ensure that all champions were evenly and fairly represented in the artworks for their achievements. The club was intending to display these publicly on their premises in a 'Hall of Fame' setup that had been created over the years. So these needed to be creative, while also contributing to a legacy generated by the club's history.

Creative Solution:

Daniel Price Art & Design created unique poster designs each year using imagery of each of the gymnasts imposed over a unique background - created independently each year.

Project Results:

The project delivered unique and impactful results to showcase and immortalize the high achievements of the gymnasts, for the gym's collection of posters. Adding rich graphic artwork to the legacy of the club and adding a visual sense of time via a developing contemporary voice that adjusted for annual graphic trends. These items remain framed and hanging at the club presently.
