Project Description: St. Christopher's Movement & Music Classes (2022)

Client: St. Christopher's Anglican Church

Project Overview:

Graphics were developed for a movement / dance fitness class held at St. Christopher's. The class focused on lower-impact dance exercise that was primarily targeted towards older people, while not being exclusive to them, but available to all-ages.

Design Challenge:

This design was required to be eye-catching and energetic to give a sense of fun with the dancing aspect and fellowship at the central focus of the class, while also being dynamic in composition - as it was advertising a movement-centered weekly activity, much like other exercise classes. The design had to communicate clearly when and where the classes were held.

Creative Solution:

In order to incorporate the dynamism, energy and movement in the class, a diagonal composition was used. This also helps to provide a point of difference when viewed against a wall of other posters, and linked to the movements shown in the photo of the class that was used in the background. The use of the class photo provides a humanizing aspect, and provides a preview into the class itself. Text was spaced out along the linear / box elements in order to anchor it to the design and keep it clear to read - as angling the text counter to the general direction of graphics in this sense would cripple the legibility.

Project Results:

The same design has served as the primary advertising face and visual identity of the classes since 2022.
